Our story
Our founder, Sinan Gölhan, was drawn to robotics and engineering early. Medicine came later, when he watched family members go through cancer treatment and saw the chemotherapy take as heavy a toll as the disease. As little as 1% of a dose reaches the tumor; the rest reaches healthy cells.
That led him to drug delivery research at Harvard Medical School, Acıbadem and UC San Diego. The work was slow trial and error, because the gels he worked with didn't suit existing lab automation. So he began building robotics for soft matter, funded as a UC San Diego senior by a grant from the National Science Foundation and the Jacobs School of Engineering.
Development continued through his PhD and produced multiple patents. Along the way Sinan met Sunghwan Cho, who joined as CTO with 15 years of experience leading lab automation, and together they built out a team of scientists and engineers. In August 2025 the work became GelTech Labs, Inc.
